Our fully independent cabins are designed for quiet, self-sufficient stays with no shared walls, no community events, and no forced interaction. We live nearby on the same mountain and are available if you need assistance, but otherwise, you are free to enjoy your retreat with complete privacy.
Chie
Chie was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, where she grew up surrounded by the vibrant culture and bustling streets of the city. After completing her college education in Pennsylvania, she felt the urge to explore life beyond the urban landscape. While she briefly stayed in Cleveland, Ohio, she ultimately settled in Western North Carolina, where she currently resides and draws inspiration from the region’s natural beauty for her creative pursuits.
Despite her metropolitan upbringing, Chie has grown to love the natural beauty of the region, with its mountains, forests, and abundant wildlife. She is particularly fond of the warm-hearted locals and the diverse cultures that make Western North Carolina such a unique and vibrant place to live.
In her free time, Chie loves to travel and explore new places. She has a particular affinity for beaches and enjoys spending time near the water whenever she can. She also loves to learn about different cultures and languages, and has even studied several languages beyond her native Japanese.
Chie has been working in healthcare since 2009, and became a Registered Nurse in 2013. She has worked in a variety of healthcare settings, including a skilled nursing facility, where she provided compassionate care to residents with a range of nursing needs. She also has extensive experience in hospital settings, including the In-Patient Acute Rehabilitation and Transplant Units at the Cleveland Clinic. Chie has also worked in Renal Medicine and Emergency Medicine in the mountains, where she has helped patients in critical and urgent situations.
Chie speaks Japanese and English.
Phil
Phil is a seasoned property investor and rental manager with over two decades of experience in the field. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, he has lived in various parts of the United States, including Phoenix, Tampa, and currently resides in the Asheville, North Carolina area.
Phil’s career path has been unconventional, to say the least. Trained as an Army MP, he has owned successful businesses in insurance, private investigations, surety bail bond industries, and has experience in computer network engineering, hospitality advertising, asset recovery, and repossession. He even spent a few years traveling all 48 states, Canada, and Mexico as a tractor-trailer truck driver.
As a lifelong entrepreneur, Phil has always been willing to take on new challenges. When he had difficulty finding qualified contractors to build small cabins in a hard-to-reach mountain location, he followed his family’s construction legacy and became a licensed North Carolina General Contractor. Phil resurrected Pavarini Greer Construction Co. name from his ancestors in the 1800s to build this community.
Phil’s passion for helping others dates back to his childhood when he assisted his grandmother, who ran a small-scale assisted living facility in her home, in Paradise Valley, Arizona. He helped with various tasks, such as preparing meals, doing laundry, assisting with bathing and hygiene, and planning daily activities.
Phil’s focus today is providing others the chance to experience the same kind of peace, privacy, and simplicity that he sought when he first built cabins on this quiet stretch of mountain land.
